Developmental Psychology Basics for Parents: What parents can do (and not do) to nurture creativity in their children.

with LISA ECKLUND-FLORES

Young children are creative dynamos. They are naturally curious and are drawn to explore new things. They are “makers” by nature. As parents, how do we best facilitate a lifelong passion for creative expression in our children?

This inspiring talk will provide the basics in cognitive and emotional development in childhood, and how these processes lay the groundwork for the development of creative expression, with special attention to how this information can help parents create and foster an environment that supports creativity in their children, and themselves.

Dr. Lisa Ecklund-Flores is a developmental psychologist, music therapist and educator, and founder and executive director of Church Street School for Music and Art.  Lisa is also a professor of psychology at Mercy College and research scientist at New York State Psychiatric Institute and was an educational consultant for the Nickelodeon show Blue’s Clues.

All HRP Mamas parenting workshops and support groups are offered with self-select sliding scale registration options.
