Child development psychologist Dr. Tovah Klein gives parents the confidence they need to help children and teens build resilience and flourish in an unpredictable world.
Whether it’s local, national or global events and tragedies affecting our sense of safety or daily life stressors, such as getting out the door, sibling rivalry, or family tensions, we are constantly confronted with situations that cause stress and can even threaten the wellbeing of our children. We all want children who can be resilient- who can handle life and make adjustments, who are confident and care about others. Thankfully, there is good news that has not yet been reflected in the headlines: Uncertainty does not have to be harmful. In fact, we can use these daily stressful situations to help our children become more resilient. The key is the parent-child relationship.
In this talk, followed by Q/A, Dr. Klein will discuss the elements of your relationship that set the foundation for long term resilience. From understanding what you bring to being a parent, including your expectations and what you want to keep or change from your own upbringing to outlining the Five Pillars of Resilience, the talk will give you takeaway strategies to understand what your child needs for today and to thrive as they grow.
“In these uncertain times, there is no more important book than Raising Resilience.” Eve Rodsky, NYT bestselling author of Fair Play.
“Raising Resilience will guide you in raising a child who feels secure in their relationship with you, knows how to navigate their own feelings, and not only adapts to challenges or traumas but also thrives after them.” — Richard C. Schwartz, PhD, author of No Bad Parts
