HOW TODDLERS THRIVE

Young children have spent a good part of their life growing up in the unusual circumstances of a pandemic. That can lead parents and others to worry- will my child be ok?  And yet, children are learning, growing and adapting all the time. So how do we know what children need for healthy development during this time of change and transition, when uncertainty still prevails? 

Although the pandemic has forced change upon every family, that does not mean children will suffer long-term consequences nor do they have to "fall behind" according to Dr. Tovah Klein. This interactive workshop will address the foundations that develop and set the path for your child’s increasing independence from 2 to 5 years old. Independence and healthy development includes learning to adapt and handle change.

The toddler years are when children learn about limits, boundaries, emotional ups and downs, self-confidence — all of which is happening, Covid or not. During our workshop, Dr. Klein will address the unique and real changes of life right now, what parents can do to counter potential pitfalls, and what all toddlers need to thrive. Dr Klein is the director of the Barnard Center for Toddler Development, a psychology professor at Barnard College, and author of How Toddlers Thrive.





Tovah P. Klein, PhD is the author of How Toddlers Thrive and Director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development; Associate Professor of Psychology. Dr. Klein served as a developmental advisor for Sesame Street and HBO films for children. She is on the advisory boardsfor Room to Grow, Ubuntu Pathways, Hunts Point Alliance for Children, and Children’s Museum of Manhattan. She has appeared on MSNBC, CNN and NPR talking about Covid and children, as well as UNICEF online, has been on Good Morning America and Today and her advice can be found on many online venues, through podcasts (including Raising Good Humans) and in print nationally and internationally.
