A Legal Workshop for Parents and Parents To Be

Come for an informative and animated discussion on various legal topics relevant to parents and parents to be. Journalist Jacoba Urist, lawyer Samiya (Simi) Mir, and insurance expert Kellan Goldberg, will talk you through some important legal issues involved in parenting including choosing and documenting a guardian, what you should know about wills, trusts, estates and life insurance, laws you should be aware of when hiring a nanny and other household help, and your employment rights before, during, and after maternity or paternity leave. Our speakers will address these difficult topics in an engaging and lively workshop aimed at clarifying what can feel like otherwise overwhelming information.

Topics discussed will include:

-  Setting up wills
-  Selecting guardians
-  Life insurance: which kind?
-  Coordinating Life Insurance with wills & trusts
-  Why every family needs a trust
-  Hiring a nanny
-  Domestic worker laws
